That’s a pretty inspiring list of crooks and villains.  It’s beginning to feel a lot like 1994 just after Rostenkowski was indicted.  Except that Rostenkowski’s crimes were old-fashioned corruption and fraud, not preying on minors, and the leadership was not so directly implicated in a cover-up.  Hotline’s Chuck Todd now considers this scandal to be an “8 or 9” on the Richter scale of political earthquakes, and it can probably only be quelled by Hastert’s resignation as Speaker–and The Washington Times agrees.  That’s not going to happen, and it is going to hurt the GOP in a big way. 

Revised reckless predictions (if Hastert doesn’t resign): Democrats win a 10-seat majority in the House and secure control of the Senate at 52-48.
