Am I only the only blogger/writer/person with a pulse in America who has never watched a single episode of The Sopranos? It seems to be the case. However, I have been unable to avoid the avalanche of post-series finale commentary, which seems to be literally everywhere. From all of this I have gleaned that David Chase is very clever, the show was apparently well done and I have absolutely zero interest in watching it in the future. Michael gives his impressions here.

You really didn’t watch it. It’s “Bada bing!”

Make it three.

You’re not the only one, though I often feel as though I may be the only other never to have bothered with the Sopranos. Friends discuss the series almost weekly, though I’ve not even a scintilla of interest. Perhaps that elitist, “gated-community” flavour of the fandom was what signaled to me that I should refrain.

Interesting that you and readers of your blog (and I now include myself) have not and do not care to watch that (and dare I add ‘not many others, either’?) particular show. Now I know I’m in good company with the likes of the estimable Mssrs. Larison, Cusack, and Martin.

I’ve never watched it. I’m just not interested in entertainment that glorifies criminals, especially murderers. In junior high school, I had a brief fascination with the Mafia–the Untouchables, the different crime families, etc. But I outgrew that.

I should note, in passing, that it was the fandom of the published critics that put me off the show – something cliquish and almost cultic, like some conservatives’ enthusiasm for 24.

I can join you in that merry band, but I did see about five minutes of an episode once.
