If a conservative win in conservative NY-23 means there is a new movement to conservatism, then does not the liberal win in liberal CA-20 also mean there is a new movement toward liberalism?

Much ado about nothing in either district.

It's not about winning; it's about feeding a winning narrative of a right-wing comeback that they can peddle nationally. Their entire strategy is driven by news and election cycles.

This will be one of the more unusual election cycles coming up. In WI, we have an open election for governor coming up. There will be more open seats than usual.

All entirely reasonable as usual. Whatever the outcome of these low turnout of year elections, all three of them, we're going to hear a mountain of spin over the next couple of days that will have faded by Saturday. In truth it's getting awfully tedious. The gubernatorial elections are very much local affairs with little or no ideological content. NY 23 is legislatively unimportant but loaded national implications but they are implications that really only affect the GOP. Clearly we're going to see a lot more of these tactics by the Toomey's, Armey's, etc and the Dems must already be laying in stocks of popcorn. NY 23 is just one small scene in a great unravellling....let the play commence.
