The situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating far too much; I find it harder and harder to imagine that even this administration would do something so irresponsible as starting a new deployment somewhere else. Fortunately, I think the idea of a U.S. intervention in Congo is not going to catch on. Sudan, on the other hand... Intervene in Congo? It staggers the mind to think any would suggest it. More of the "pornography of compassion" as Thomas Fleming would put it.
