Maybe one of the McCains’ backyards. You know, that house with the off-brown that never quite seemed right? Let’s put it behind that one. If something goes wrong, well, no big loss.

I think that many of the “undecided” voters at this point fit into one of the following categories:

* I’m leaning towards voting for McCain *but* I’m worried about his war mongering or whether he “gets it” on the economy and health care or if his temperament is suited to be president or if he’s too erratic, etc.

* I’m leaning towards voting for Obama *but* I hear he’s some sort of terrorist-loving radical or that he’s too inexperienced to be president or too much of a liberal, etc.

If you’re one of those people and watched the debates, I don’t think that McCain did all *that* much to reassure you regarding your doubts. On the other hand, if you’re hearing that Obama is a radical know-nothing and then watch his debate performances, you see a very calm, reassuring, knowledgeable-seeming guy who talks about tax cuts and helping the middle-class. The contrast between how he’s been portrayed by the McCain campaign and what you actually see is pretty stark.

The result is that, if you’re looking for reassurance, you’re more likely to find it coming from Obama than from McCain. I don’t think this is the whole story behind how focus group undecideds tend to switch to Obama, but it’s part of the it.

Or perhaps, people don’t care what McCain says: they only want to hear Obama.

I assume he will use the same magical process by which he will balance the budget in his first term despite continuing to increase spending and cutting taxes in a recession. Of course, nuclear power won’t do any such thing, which tells me that they think Joe the Plumber the rest of us are morons. I don’t know why they keep making these far-out, meaningless promises. In eight or ten years, people will be jeering at Obama for not having “fixed” the “foreign oil problem.”

Man, it bums me out when Obama agrees with asshat things that McCain says, esp. picking which countries’ oil we can boycott cuz their baddies. Sooo stooopid. Let him wallow in the stooopidity, Barack! I think Obama thinks he can get us completely off oil in ten years, so picking will be moot. But that’s stooopid too.
