IIRC, Edwards was a first term Senator in 2004, Clinton is in her second Senate term now, Obama and Webb in their first. Jindal just got elected Governor last year. GWB I was in the middle of his second term as Texas governor.

Maybe it's my imagination but the big two parties seem interested in folks with minimal experience in the traditional launch offices (Senator, Rep, Governor, VP). I'm too lazy to go back and profile any huge number of previous Presidential and VP nominees, but is this a recent trend?

The fatal flaw in putting Jindal on the ticket is that it would negate what is sure to be a central theme of the McCain campaign: that Obama is supposedly too inexperienced or underqualified. If Obama is too underqualified to be president, how on earth is Jindal qualified to be a heartbeat away from it?

Obviously, Newt is enamored of the fact that Jindal is Indian. He thinks it would be oh-so clever to put a minority on the Republican ticket. The former House Speaker has taken leave of his senses, as has been the case for awhile.

Jindal needs to come out with a Shermanesque "If elected I will not serve" type of statement to put this nonsense to rest.
