Its no surprise the base has shifted to his favor. Most of them aren't that politically sophisticated; they don't understand the weight of the Republican campaign machine. They see someone espousing 95% of the same ideas as Clinton, while simultaneously being 95% more affable and approachable, and figure -- "Hey, why not give the guy a shot, if for no other reason than to have the "honor" or boasting about running the first black guy for prez."
