Israel and India are reported to be very angry at Obama administration attempts to get them to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation regime.  I’ve been trying to track down the original source of a possibly related story that has been surfacing on some Israeli blogs regarding plans by India and Israel to coordinate attacks on Pakistan and Iran to destroy their respective nuclear programs.  The story has a certain plausibility as the two countries have a very close defense relationship and each has a Muslim enemy that they view in “existential” terms.  The only problem would be that the two strikes would have to be 100% successful to achieve anything.  If India were to miss a couple of Pakistani missiles with warheads it would mean goodbye New Delhi on the following day.  Iran for its part would no doubt accelerate its weapons program after being attacked and would benefit from having a good ally in Pakistan that has already mastered the engineering of nuclear weapons.  So the story would appear to be highly unlikely, but dumber things have happened and the possibility to wipe out one’s enemies must have a certain appeal in both New Delhi and Tel Aviv.  It would be interesting to learn if the original story comes from either an Israeli or Indian government source.
