Say the subject line in a Church Lady voice. Reader James C. just posted this to a thread about yesterday’s Supreme Court decision overturning DOMA:

I’ve reading the various hosannas being sung by a number of Democrats in Washington over the decision.

First up are Bill and Hillary Clinton. Both supported DOMA, and Bill signed it.

Sen. Harry Reid: Voted for DOMA. (Yesterday: “The idea that allowing two loving, committed people to marry would have a negative impact on anyone else, or on our nation as a whole, has always struck me as absurd.”)

Sen. Bob Menendez: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Chuck Schumer: Voted for DOMA.

VP Joe Biden: Voted for DOMA

Sen. Ben Cardin: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Pat Leahy: Voted for DOMA.

Rep. Steny Hoyer: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Chris Dodd: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Tom Harkin: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Carl Levin: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Max Baucus: Voted for DOMA.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg: Voted for DOMA. (died 3 weeks ago calling for the overturn)

Sen. Jack Reed: Voted for DOMA.

What do these politicians all have in common besides being Democrats?

They’re all veteran attorneys, trained in the law by the country’s elite institutions.

So, did these attorneys all vote for a bill they considered unconstitutional? If not, what principles of constitutional law have led each of them to cheer on the Court’s striking down of a law they themselves enacted?

Answer: None. Just slimy pandering or gutter-level cultural politics or emotivism or the will to power.

As far as I’m concerned, each of these hypocrites should surrender their J.D. degrees.
