Thanks you the post, Richard. But I think I would skip that green stuff and go straight for the beer and sausage.

It looks like the escarole soup my Italian family used to make. Except there would never be butter on an Italian table.

It kind of looks like what I have in my crock pot right now. Cannelini, butternut squash, kale, various spices and herbs. That and bread and olive oil, supplemented with yoghurt and fruit, will make up several dinners and lunches for the rest of the week. Also, good German beer, though that will only supplement dinner.

Oh man. It’s probably a heresy to my German heritage, but throwing kale in with the sausage and potatoes is the best.

The sausages are sweet Italian, pan-fried in white wine. The beer is an India Pale Ale from a local microbrewer, Upland Brewery.
