Well, my table, anyway — or, to be precise, the table of our friends, who are house-sitting out in the country for our other friends. Friends No. 1 made barbecue shrimp for dinner, which was fantastic. Julie made the bread — good old no-knead bread — to sop up the shellfish squeezins. Crazy good.

For dessert, cake, whipped cream, and cherries stewed in cherry eau de vie, which I made this afternoon (I made the cake last night). Plus vanilla ice cream and fresh mangoes. It’s amazing what a difference the eau de vie made in the flavor of the cherries:
