That’s sent to us from Cafe t’PapeneiLand, a classic Dutch “brown cafe” on the Prinsengracht. It’s not far at all from the Centraal Station. If you are traveling through Amsterdam this summer, you have to stop by. I’ve actually been there, and had the apple pie and whipped cream, just as you see here. If I were a rich man, I would rent an apartment on one of the canals in western Amsterdam, and go there and walk and read and drink beer and talk to Dutch people, who are among my favorites in all the world.
