Here’s our Fourth of July dinner. It’s smoked boudin bought on your recommendation from the Best Stop in Scott, LA, plus a homemade black bean-corn salsa, salad and cherries. We recently attended my husband’s 20-year high school reunion at Baton Rouge High School (the remodeled school was fabulous!), and on the drive back to my parents’ in Beaumont, TX, we made sure to stop off at several of the spots you’ve mentioned. Then we had to pack it all for an overnight in Houston, and a flight back home to Albuquerque. Everything made it back safely, and was worth the trouble.

Yes! I’m telling you, people, Best Stop in Scott is one of the best places in the world. It’s only about a mile and a half off I-10. So short a drive, so great a pleasure.
