Cherish your father. Make time for your kids to hang out with him. My parents died young, or young enough to miss out on my children, and the chance to play with them, teach them, just be with them. Of all the things in this wide world that I would change if I could, by waving a magic wand, or sacrificing enough chickens, having my children spend time with my parents is right at the top of the list.

My guess is that Rod’s father’s jambalaya is like my spaghetti sauce: it has standard ingredients but the details are “by feel.”
I’ve written down my sauce recipe, but other people never get it quite right.
