I’ve been doing a work project in Frederick, Maryland and this place has an amazing foodie scene. Within a single downtown block, there are about a dozen amazing restaurants. I’m continually blown away at the quality of the food here.
This picture is from Volt. The Executive Chef is Bryan Voltaggio who was the runner-up in one of the seasons of Top Chef on Bravo. I did the four-course tasting menu and this was the main course – farm-raised venison with acorn squash, ricotta, and cranberry.

I just recently learned about the foodie scene in Frederick. I guess it shouldn’t surprise since it is maybe 40 minutes from DC and a good sized town with a lot to recommend it.
It is also where I went to high school and where I spent a lot of time growing up. Just to think, when I was growing up we used to call the place “Fredneck.” Its hard for me to imagine what it must be like now to be a foodie in one of my all time favorite places. Makes me even more proud of it (as long as it doesn’t get too big for its britches that is
