I’m having choucroute tonight with my family & in-laws (Alsatian mother in law) in Villecresnes, Ile-de-France (suburban Paris). Its amazing. I’m in gastronomic heaven.
Go Alsace! I had another choucroute garni the other day, and it was incredible. Lord have mercy, I’m going to miss this place.

Seriously though, the Alsace is so beautiful–Colmar, Strasbourg, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg–sigh…

Ha! We will be back home next week at this time. And I must admit, it’s time to go home. We are all still fighting colds and a nasty bronchial infection that set in after a week of rain, and that won’t let go. Julie says today that she can’t get warm, and is in bed — this, on a beautiful late fall afternoon. I think we’re all just worn out and ready to be in our own beds. As you can tell, we’ve absolutely loved it here, but as Julie likes to say, “There’s a lot to be said for ordinary time.”
Barbara says: You maybe be ready to go home, but I so want to be there. Watched Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” – while waiting to get frozen and slide into the sea because of Frankenstorm – this afternoon. The opening shots of Paris – magic. However, I will agree, there is no place like home.
theOtherWill says: yes, those are hot dogs- frankfurters – cooked with various types of ham, smoked pork, pork, sausage in saurkraut in white wine. Yum!

Was guessing this was a Swedish meal. Looks akin to some of the Swedish diner food I get once or twice a year here in Chicago. Either way, I want in.
