Just got off of Facetime with an old and dear friend in the Netherlands; we mourned our mutual pal Miriam, who is responsible for our friendship. I expressed hope that our families would see each other in the new year. He said his 14-year-old son would love to come to Louisiana and go hunting and shooting. It turns out that the boy is a fan of, yes, Duck Dynasty.

Now, think about what kind of world we now live on. Not only was I able to have a live video chat with my friend halfway around the world, at no cost, but I learned that his son, who is about the age I was when his dad and I became friends, is a fan of a reality show about redneck Louisiana duck hunters, and wants to come see for himself.

That’s something else, Jack.
