The Morsi government appears to be in eclipse. It looks like the Egyptian military is in the process of taking over the country, to save it from civil war and economic collapse.
So much for the Arab Spring. Time for the long, hot Arab Summer.
I’m going to be busy for the next few hours, and may not get to post much. Consider this an open thread. Me, if I had to choose between a military dictatorship in Egypt or an Islamist government led by the Muslim Brotherhood, I’d choose the generals, given the likely fate of secularists and Coptic Christians under Islamism. Americans commenting on the Egyptian situation need to keep in mind that there is a difference between liberal democracy and illiberal democracy.
