Boy, democracy is already starting to pay off for Egypt:

Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives – for up to six hours after their death.

The controversial new law is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.

It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women’s rights of getting education and employment.

How can it be halal for a man to conjugate with a corpse? Al-Arabiya explains:

The controversy about a husband having sex with his dead wife came about after a Moroccan cleric spoke about the issue in May 2011.

Zamzami Abdul Bari said that marriage remains valid even after death adding that a woman also too had the same right to engage in sex with her dead husband.

They’re calling it “farewell sex.” Things get super-freaky when you start consulting certain Islamic religious authorities about Islamically correct sex. From Foreign Policy magazine, this bit about the Ayatollah Khomeini:

In his 1961 book, A Clarification of Questions, the supreme leader aimed to set out his position on 3,000 questions of everyday life, though “everyday” might be pushing it for some of them. Most famously, the ayatollah ruled that “If a person has intercourse with a cow, a sheep, or a camel, their urine and dung become impure and drinking their milk will be unlawful.”

Read on in the FP article to find out what the Moroccan imam Zamzami advises about sexually ravenous Islamic women on the produce aisle.

UPDATE: The “farewell sex” claim is probably a pro-Mubarak hoax, it now emerges. Sorry. I checked to see where it had run before posting it, and I assumed Al-Arabiya was a reputable news source. The bit from Foreign Policy about Khomeini and Zamzami really is true, though.

UPDATE.2: Speaking of crazy things Islamic preachers say:
