I Love Those British Types
That’s a new stamp series from the Royal Mail. Isn’t that just great, especially their celebration of Gill Sans, the greatest typeface ever? Check out the Royal Mail’s new stamp collection. Why can’t we have nice things like that in our mail, huh?
This appears on the blog of 8 Faces, a UK magazine dedicated to celebrating typography. Here’s a characteristic blog post: top typeface designers choose their favorite typefaces from history. If you’re a geek who loves this kind of thing, this is just the kind of thing that you like. I am, and I do. What a great country. But then, I’m getting warmed up for the US debut on Sunday of the new season of Downton Abbey.
I found this on the Tumblelog of Alan Jacobs, which just ended an eight-year run. Alas.
UPDATE: A reader who is more attentive than I am says that this is not an actual stamp series but a proposed series. Sorry for the error.
