Hillbilly Benedicts

J.D. Vance (via JDVance.com)

If you’re in New Orleans on April 17, come see J.D. Vance and me onstage at UNO talking about faith and politics. Details [1]:

The discussion, “Faith, Hillbillies, and American Politics: An Evening with J.D. Vance [2] & Rod Dreher [3],” will begin at 6 p.m. in the Geoghegan Ball Room of the Homer L. Hitt Alumni Center [4] at UNO’s campus, 2000 Lakeshore Dr. in New Orleans, following a reception in the Alumni Center lobby beginning at 5:15. This event is free and open to the public.

I predict that there will be a Ken Bickford sighting too. Look for the seersucker.

Should be interesting. Do you qualify as a hillbilly though, Rod? From what I understand, Southern Louisiana is pretty much all bottom land.

[NFR: The hills start in West Feliciana Parish, where I’m from. I’m a rather genteel hillbilly, naturellement. — RD]

I’ve noticed a similarity between swamps and mountain hollers. They’re both a bit difficult to access and often folks living there prefer it that way.
