Though our harsh winter has delayed the azaleas this year, today is the first day of Spring. I am inside working today, but in my mind, it’s the first day of Spring in 1992, and I’m riding in a convertible with the top down, headed to Austin, listening to Poi Dog Pondering, wearing sandals and planning to find me a patio and get drunk on margaritas and full of food and enjoying the blessing of being young and free and American, because I didn’t know any better, or maybe because I did.
