After a slide-show snafu yesterday, you can now see a proper presentation on our main page of the latest articles from James Bovard (on Obama’s plans for AmericaCorps and, just maybe, mandatory national service) and Oliver Marre (on libel tourism). Take note, too, of a new article that isn’t included in the slideshow: Michael Lind’s review of the insightful new book from Michael Vlahos, Fighting Identity: Sacred War and World Change.

I’m Canadian but would insist America should ban women from the armed forces.
Except nurses or special operations. There is a great identity difference here when it come to fighting with ones body. Also its silly to have a sex that is uniquely made to be nurturing then trying to destroy mankind. War is for men only. Its unseemly to see women fighting men even if they are the enemy. Its a worthy cause to fight the push of feminism to interfere with men in what they deserve and their special identity demands in special cases.
Great ideas are involved here once again about the foundations of civilization.

A national service? I wonder how the liberals and the feminists will write the rules.
Right now the media acts as though the military is 50% male/female with only mysogeny and chauvanism preventing true equality.
The facts are 99% are male and 1% are female in all branches even reserves. Women are barred from combat and have less rigorous physical standards applied. Its compulsory for boys to sign up for selective service to receive any social services but girls are completely exempt from such requirements.
So will boys national service be to serve and protect in the military while women pad their resumes and promote liberal feminism?
So will boys sacrifice their lives and limbs for their country while girls go to college and become CEOs.
While our nation focuses on women in math and science and equality in the workplace, and bodily justice of abortion and reproductive rights…where are boys in reading, writing, speaking and socialization (to which boys come late and girls early), where are boys in truancy, dropouts, juvie, jail, prison and the military, where are boys in their 50% of reproductive rights?
There is no shame in serving ones country but as the rules have been written for the last 50 years, feminists will again play the victim of social justice though boys have already become both the failed and the sacrificial gender.
