The NAACP’s Race-Baiting

Rescuing itself from the obscurity it richly deserves, the NAACP has found a way back onto the front page: accuse the tea party movement of harboring racists.

At its Kansas City convention, NAACP President and CEO Ben Jealous declaimed: “Expel the bigots and racists in your ranks, or take the responsibility for them and their actions. We will no longer allow you to hide like cowards.”

Is it not an absurd world we live in?

Here is an organization whose very name, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, pronounces its goal — advancement through affirmative action, quotas, contract set-asides based on race — accusing another organization of being motivated by race.

Jealous might revisit the Sermon on the Mount.

“Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. … Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

If discrimination means favoring people or opposing people based on race, two questions arise. Is that not pretty much the job description of the NAACP? And when has the tea party advocated hirings, promotions or school admissions based on race?

In the South Carolina gubernatorial primary, the tea party backed a woman of Indian-American descent, Nikki Haley, who was raised a Sikh, over three white men with superior resumes.

In the GOP primary in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, African-American Tim Scott, with tea party backing, routed Strom Thurmond’s son three to one.

In Florida, the tea party vaulted a Hispanic, Cuban-American Marco Rubio, into so strong a lead over favorite Gov. Charlie Crist in the race for the U.S. Senate that Crist quit the GOP.

And the NAACP?

In the year 2000, the organization ran an ad using the daughter of James Byrd, the victim of a dragging death by white racists, to imply Gov. George W. Bush’s opposition to a hate crimes bill meant that Bush was indifferent to the lynching of James Byrd.

This was as nasty a piece of political advertising as has been run in our time. When or where has the tea party run such a despicable ad?

In the last month, the major story with a racial dimension has been the charge that Eric Holder’s Justice Department dropped an open-and-shut case against members of the New Black Panther Party of Philadelphia, two of whom were caught on tape threatening and intimidating white voters in the November 2008 election.

Justice’s J. Christian Adams, who resigned to protest dropping the Panther case, testified before the Civil Rights Commission that attorneys in the Civil Rights Division of Justice were told to ignore cases involving black defendants and white victims.

A tape has now turned up where New Black Panther Minister King Samir Shabazz, one of the two charged with voter intimidation, rants before a small crowd: “You want freedom. You’re gonna have to kill some crackers. You’re going have to kill some of their babies.”

Perhaps we can hear from the NAACP on the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia. Perhaps we can hear more from the NAACP on the ugliest form of racism in America, interracial violent crime — which, according to FBI statistics, is largely black-on-white, not the reverse.

Remarkable. In the black community, the jobless rate is 15 percent, the dropout rate is sometimes 50 percent, the illegitimacy rate is over 70 percent, nearly a million black Americans are in jail, prison or juvenile detention — and the NAACP is passing resolutions denouncing some guys carrying signs portraying Obama as The Joker.

According to a CBS poll this week, the five issues of most concern to all Americans, having to do with the president and Congress, are the economy (far and away No. 1), deficits and debt, Afghanistan and Iraq, health care and the oil spill.

None of these issues has anything directly to do with race.

Jealous and the NAACP are trying to change the subject from Obama’s failure to Obama’s race, and from the failures of liberals to the motivations of conservatives.

By accusing the tea party of harboring racists, the NAACP is, in effect, demanding that the party appear in a court of public opinion to prove itself innocent of an unsupported slander.

Sorry, that’s not how things work in America.

Folks here are innocent until proven guilty, and name-calling is the last recourse of exhausted minds, to which attention need not be paid. The NAACP has become what Graham Green called a “burnt-out case.”

As longshoreman-philosopher Eric Hoffer observed, every great movement begins as a cause, eventually becomes a business, then degenerates into a racket. Time for the Ford Foundation to pull the plug on its subsidiary, whose time has come and gone a long time ago.

  1. The American Left is continously asking the Right questions loaded questions that are equivalent to “When did you stop beating your wife?”

The one thing the Right Wing does exceptionally poorly compared to the Left Wing is educating it’s constituents and implementing it’s long-term agenda.

The vast majority of Americans know absolutely nothing else about the JFK inspired and Ted Kennedy championed 1965 Immigration Act. Even in many Irish Catholic households all they know about is Camelot and know nothing about the fact that Kennedy’s are responsible for all but banning Irish immigration to the U.S. The Kennedy’s have done far more harm to the Irish then recent Kings, Queens, and Prime Ministers of England have done in the last 100 years are so. That’s just one example but there are many.

It’s time to peel the bark off the MSM brainwashing by educating all Americans on how detrimental the 1965 Immigration Act has been.

The most common hate crime (and I mean pure hatred) is that of Black on White violence. It’s especially bad for white guys who get sent to prison because due to affirmative action policies many jails are filled with black prison guards who hate whites just as much as the black prisoners do.

It’s time to stop being so PC. We need to educate everyone on the 1965 Immigration act. Also, another way of not being PC is to write your Senator or Congressman calling for prisons to introduce segregation. That would be an inherently positive thing for white prisoners.

  2. Undoubtably the Tea Party does have a racial undercurrent.

You’re in denial Pat. Slavery and segregation are a big part of American’ history and the popular in the South repackaging as for example “the Triangular Trade” and revising the origins of the Civil War so popular in republican and Tea Party circles is just an embarrassment.

Is a Tea Party leader running about with a sign including the word Ni**ar not a sign that all is not well in aspects of their thinking? This isn’t a partisan matter Pat …think a good deal harder. Just what sort of America would there be if the NAACP hadn’t existed through the 60′s?

It is common in History during economic downturns to blame smaller groups for all of whats going wrong. In the Weimar republic demagogues blamed Jews ,Gypsies ,Socialists . Now we look to blame Migrants, Muslims Socialists etc. we got ourselves into the situation we are in and it wasn’t from having too many Mexican gardeners or nannies. So go on blame every one else and rant about the deficit guys. The trillion dollar deficit seems very similar to the trillion dollars poured into Iraq and afghanistan. None of that was at the urging of such terrible groups as latino pool cleaners and agricultural workers, gay activists, pinko lefty idiots in sandals from community colleges or even scary Black American preachers.

Nope. we did it. we did it all. Its just more fun to blame others.

  3. What Tea party leader, and what sign with the N-word? Are you delusional or just a liar?

  4. “Undoubtably the Tea Party does have a racial undercurrent.”

That is undoubtedly one of the stupidest comments I have ever seen, unless you are saying ALL groups EVERYWHERE fit your description.

John Stossel said it most brilliantly: In the US today, it is no longer relevant whether or not you “think I can understand”, nor whether you think “we are racist”, nor whether you think “my race has a poor track record”. What IS important is whether I can personally demonstrate that I AM TRYING HARDER THAN YOU TO BE COLORBLIND.

Does anyone with half a brain realize that the ONLY connection between some of us and the racists of 200 years ago is RACE? So how do you draw a connection, or infer a simularity, except by RACISM, unless you have concrete evidence about the individual’s actions?

Martin Luther King said let a man be judged by his individual character, and not by the color of his skin. How can you attempt to draw a connection between me and the nasty pictures in your head, except by racism and judging me by my color?

    Think that one through.

  5. Undoubtably the Tea Party does have a racial undercurrent.

If by ‘racial undercurrent’ you mean that white people are the only demographic with any widespread interest in reducing the size and scope of government, then that’s true. It doesn’t really say what liberals want to though.

  6. Buchanan “If discrimination means favoring people or opposing people based on race, two questions arise. Is that not pretty much the job description of the NAACP? And when has the tea party advocated hirings, promotions or school admissions based on race?”

To my mind, that’s the key point. America today is filled with racial special interest groups that advocate discrimination against Whites (affirmative action or “aid” requisitioned from White taxpayers) to underwrite their nationalist and “civil rights” movements are themselves often mere fronts for anti-White, and often anti-Christian causes: NAACP, ACORN, NBPP, La Raza, AJC, ADL, the Israel lobby, SPLC…on and on…and all of them organize and advocate along ethno-racial lines.

It is these groups that are the racists, and initiators and aggressors of racial hostility, yet if Whites ever organize explicitly along racial lines, they’re identified by these as Nazis and the new KKK, and even when they DON’T organize along racial lines but pursue historically White and Christian political goals such as limited government , Constitutionalism, and the rule of law, they’re STILL the new KKK (according to these racial demagogues).

America is increasingly balkanized and fractured, and unless Whites and Christians stand together with all other people of good will who don’t want to see the country destroyed and who want to preserve the Constitution, and unless they aggressively organize and step up to put an end to this piecemeal extortion and destruction of America, we can bend over and kiss the country (and our own asses) goodbye.

These hand-wringing White liberals, hyper materialistic White snobs who ‘just want to do business,” and effete White metrosexuals who affect to be above it all better wise up themselves, because their asses are on the line, too. Ethnic nationalist groups and Leftist thugs on the march in a balkanized America won’t give a damn about all their “compassion” when the fur starts to fly.

  7. I also find it ironic that the left-liberals engage in slogans and platitudes like the following from President Obama in his recent immigration speech…(““being an American is not a matter of blood or birth. It’s a matter of faith. It’s a matter of fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear.”)…while simultaneously encouraging American minorities to organize along racial (blood) lines so that they can be assembled by the left-liberals into a political block and pit against the White majority.

Left-liberals don’t really believe that we are all united in our American beliefs revolving around the values of the Constitution, nor do they want us to be; that’s just lip service. They really want their coalition to remain tribal, and they want Whites to continue the American tradition of race-blind abstract idealism so they can peel off the White liberals and add them to their ethnic coalitions until Whites are totally displaced. I’m not sure what the left-liberals believe will happen once America is balkanized, but because they generally suffer from arrested development and are blinded by their own narcissism, and hatred of Whites and Western Civilization, they probably haven’t thought it all the way through.

The point is, let’s force the left-liberal coalition to practice what it preaches and decry racialism, tribalism, reject affirmative action, racial set-asides and ethno-nationalist organizing, and instead embrace Constitutionalism. When they refuse, let’s unmask them for what they are: anti-American racial nationalists who are at war with the concept of America itself, and pursuing their own self-serving tribal agendas.

  8. Chris Moore – “let’s force the left-liberal coalition to practice what it preaches and decry racialism, tribalism, reject affirmative action, racial set-asides and ethno-nationalist organizing…”

Today, the NAACP has decided we wouldn’t like Dr Martin Luther King, if we knew he was a socialist and hated capitalism.

Dr Alveda King, his neice, says this is nonsense.

Expect, for now, the left to remain race-baiters in many quarters.

  9. Is the tea party racist? What a pointless question. The tea party is not a real organization with defined principles; it’s just whatever its adherents (whatever they think they’re adhering to), its opponents (whatever they think they’re opposing) and the media imagine it to be. And the term racist (like fascist and anti-semite) is even more vague – just a content free insult now as popular on the right side of the political spectrum as on the left. And it’s worth noting that even right and left are increasingly hard to define in any coherent way.

  10. AC. An economic partial metdown and a black president and you freakout. Nobody needs to take your freedoms one attack and you give them up like scared rabbits. Hell the Brits were under terror threats for decades without the kind of paranoia US has.

It’s all white race this that or the other or dark skinned non christians are attacking us etc. Whats Conservative about that? want a tighter government budget — try being less of a military empire. that costs money and also costs credibility too. Liberals are hardly anti American. This beck/fox rubbish is just lazy. Want to be a real republican or conservative read Frum or Andrew Sullivan, George Will. theres nothing conservative about calling people anti american berating people about their religion or lack thereof.
Racist tea party signs … just google it !! I was embarrassed by it .. stunned even.. is this what I’m part of? If you condone it by ignoring it then how much better are you? It was the condoning and or denying that really hurts.Stand back .. take a good look at yourselves. Just what and whose freedoms do you really stand for? the freedom for an Iranian, Palestinian or Israeli to live in peace in their own house? Or do we choose for them? War or peace…What will you choose? If you legitimise the choice can other countries play too?

AC your lack of integrity makes you eligible to guest on Hannity. Remember every time those guys speak on Fox the rest of the world sees what US stands for and it isn’t pretty. They may be speaking to a white crowd in the US and you can cheer but we can all hear their message loud and clear. Sometimes not just the dogs that can hear Fox’s dog whistle.

Always the drumbeat ..Muslims, latinos,.gay people,(global warming is a myth palaver ).. Europeans, are all socialists and so are bad/weak,curiously football is bad ,Israel and White Christians great. You’re in a hole and it’s all minority groups fault? really? I want my country back (?) from who? did a gay persons marraige kill mine? ( no.. I did that all by myself) Is it okay for a childmolester to marry but not a gay soldier to marry ..to fight? What happened to his/her freedoms? Is a homo worse than a repeat rapist? Does he have less rights ( looks that way)

NB Martin Luther King was regularly threatened and was spied on by the FBI. He was assassinated not cuddled to death. He was hardly popular with Republicans.

Its nice to whitewash history. It’s only a generation ago since segregation. With some of you guys I’m wondering if it was last week. Things are not always over and done after 30 years just ask Israel.

Peace brothers .. less anger ..imagine how angry you’d be if you were gay? What would you think of slavery if you were black?
Glenn Beck doesn’t look like he skipped many lunches so why so hard done by?

  11. I disagree. There are Tea Partiers who are CLEARLY racist.

You know, there are a lot of non-racist, well-meaning white people in America who think that affirmative action is no longer necessary. The problem with this view is that an assumption is being made, said assumption being that, absent affirmative action, a level playing field would exist.

    In fact, it would not.

(And, in case you’re wondering, I’m a lily-white Irish-Canadian. I truly love your magnificent country, but ya gotta get over this tribalist s–t.)

  12. My dad worked for Bonneville Power. That’s the US Government’s power company in the western part of the US. He worked there his last 10 years in the industry. He’s been retired a bit less than 15 years.

He was told 2 things there that are significant:

First, ALL employees were “strong armed” into setting up their own retirement systems. They were told by upper management that Social Security IS A SCAM.

Secondly, for the 10 years he was there, he was told by the management above him, that NO WHITE GUYS would get raises or promotions. And this was true, and he NEVER saw an exception to that in his 10 years. (This is provable, but nobody’s going to investigate).

(He had done well with Pacific Power and Light, and at one point was in charge of much of the State of Wyoming for them. He had been offerred a job at one point as the head of the country of Belize’s power. He had ended up with Bonneville because he had to move to take care of family members. Bonneville offerred him early retirement, in lieu of promotion, which he accepted.)

  13. Adam Rurik – Love ya man.

“ya gotta get over this tribalist s–t”

Joke, right? Irish have always loved the Brits? Both have always loved the Scots? (Our mutual heritage)

Ever try to speak English in the French quarters of Canada? Try to stop and get directions in English.

I spent 4 hours one weekend, trying to get off a plane to do an emergency repair to an umpteen million dollar piece of equipment so 50 Canucks could get back to work Monday, and we had to have someone in the states go down to the office and fax them contracts and affidavits proving that I hadn’t come to do work that a Canuck could do. Eh?

As we slowly welcome blacks into the 21st century, some are unaware of things like: white people from Europe in the 1600′s and 1700′s were often little more than slaves. And, if a black person is killed by someone, there’s a 94% chance it was another black (official gov figures, 2008).

Adam, you’re accepting the scam coming from the race-baiters, who make a good living peddling their poison.

  14. It’s the ethnic and racial interest groups demanding special considerations based on race, affirmative action and set asides that are the tribalists, not the atomized Whites who seek merely for all to play by the same set of rules, and don’t want to enslave their children for the sins of previous generations (the same kind of sins that are still routinely practiced outside of the West as a matter of course today.)

The concept of America came out of “White” Western Civilization and Christianity. The West has been on a multi-millennial quest to remove itself from the mucky-muck forces of tribalism that kept humanity bogged down since the dawn of world civilization. America and its Constitution were the apex of the quest.

What these tribalists are doing, intentionally or not, is attempting to drag the West back into the bog of tribalism. And they are succeeding.

Liberals and “progressives” seem to believe that no matter how much tribalists and their agenda are coddled and indulged, the world is on an inevitable and unalterable course of social progress; the more they are indulged, the better, say these lefties.

This is childish fancy, wishful thinking, and greedy left-wing nonsense driven by a desire to extract resources from society by socialist special interests with a short term, ulterior agenda of redistribution to themselves. Some of these special interest are ethnic, others are merely participants in the scam, like the big government unions.

What left “progressives” don’t seem to understand or appreciate (or pretend not to) is that encouraging tribalism begets MORE tribalism, and undermines the truly progressive concept of race blind rule of law and Constitutionalism, which is where most of us want to be.

This is so obvious and self-evident that I have to believe it is cynicism and self-serving agenda driving most of these “compassionate” rationales for why this group or that should receive special consideration for decades on end, and be allowed to undermine the concept of a race blind society to the point that it disappears back into the bog.

  15. The jobless rate among blacks is not 15%. That’s the unemployment rate, which consists only of those looking for jobs. The jobless rate – those who are either unemployment or outside of the labor force – is far higher.

Perhaps a more central point would be who, exactly, the NAACP expects to do the expelling from the Tea Party. The NAACP is an organization with a clearly identified leadership and it could presumably expel members it deems to be objectionable. The Tea Party, on the other hand, is a movement of loosely connected individuals and groups. One cannot take away membership cards that don’t exist.

  16. @Adam Rurik

I find it curious that you would judge us when your country has plenty of race and immigration problems of it’s own. Please don’t waste my time typing another pile like that.

  17. This is the fact The NBPP has bigots in it and so does TTP….the good news is in both cases they make up a very small minority of either group.

  18. People, people, people! Here in Canada, the Ministry of Thought, each and every Wednesday, issues a list of opinions we are permitted to have, and I’ve NEVER seen anti-black sentiment on said list!

  19. I never said anything about the “white race”, Ian, so i have no idea what you’re babbling incoherently about.

I’d say it’s safe to say that an organization specifically designed to forward the interests of one race of people, like the NAACP, is, by definition, more racist than any non-racial anti-tax, anti-government organization. Of course, the leftist statist knows this, which is why he changes the subject to accuse the defenders of the Constitution of racism. It’s all so predictable it’s become boring. Which is why they’re losing. Only the joke that is the MSM still takes the NAACP seriously.

  20. The NAACP has done a lot for the US.

Just where would you be if “coloured people”were still not allowed to serve, Mixed marriages still illegal, segregation was still in place. Those were fights that had to fought against bitter and long standing opposition from the mainstream opinion.those fights didn’t win themselves and ordinary people were beaten some even killed. It’s only a generation ago. You don’t have to say thanks. Think what side of the argument you’d have been on in 1960?1970?

Were there people who “wanted their country back” then?

They’ve proved to be very necessary and their continued vigilence has been thoroughly earned. Everytime you hear texan schoolbooks refer to the slave trade as the Triangular trade just think…thats why they’re still here and that’s why they have to stay.

You guys write from the perspective of the haves. The view may be a little different from the other side. I don’t know what would happen to America without organisations like NAACP and you should all be grateful for the work they’ve done.
Ps I’m not a Brit or Canadian but thanks for the thought.

  21. It isn’t 1960 anymore, in case you didn’t notice. One thing that would happen, and much to the benefit of working class black Americans, is that they would stop listening to the bad advice of a leftist arm of the Democratic party that prefers blacks to be forever dependent on the federal government and one political party. Much like a plantation. They’re really the NAARLPINOCP, not the NAACP, an association for race-driven, leftist politics, posing as an assoc. in name of “colored” people. The days since they stood for anything noble or principled are decades in the past. Unlike the ACLU, which started as a bunch of collectivist lawyers, I guess you could say at least the NAACP has a noble past. But it’s long gone.

  22. Thats a bit like telling Jewish people its not 1942 anymore and people are silly enough to do that to. If you ignore the past you’re doomed to repeat it. Thats why it is important not to forget and to keep vigilant. Black Americans were kept as slaves, killed at their masters whim etc so don’t take it too badly if there’s an organisation out there to mind the store. Small price to pay for a history that does not seem to be accepted by all posing as Republicans. Triangles anyone?

I believe the recent expulsion of Mark Williams from the Tea Party for his repeated comments and actions to be very positive. His mindset underlines the difficulty some people have in adjusting since 1960 odd. If his behaviour is condoned we are in agreement with him. Thank the ACLU as well !..glad you brought them up. The freedoms we all like to enjoy are safeguarded by them whether they like you personally or not. The political and law enforcement establishments have historically been very slow to protect the rights of those they view different to themselves. Lucky we have the NAACP and ACLU. Thought the tea party would like those concerned citizens taking on the power of the State.

  23. ian,

FYI, don’t expect anything like an honest discussion with A.C., especially on any topic to do with race or racism.

This is, after all, the same special little snowflake who spent a week or two during Confederate History Month ‘proving’ that the American Civil War had nothing to do with slavery because (and these are genuine claims, BTW),

    a) Every Southerner who wasn’t actually a co-signer or author of any of the various Secession Resolutions, Confederate Constitutions, pro-Slavery articles, books, speeches, etc, written at the time (and this may surprise you) actually had no firm opinion on slavery, and only took up arms in order to protect the right of States to secede from the Union.

    b) Abraham Lincoln said he wasn’t going to get rid of slavery, therefore the Civil War – couldn’t – have been about slavery. The opinions of the Southern leaders who called him a liar and actually seceeded to ‘defend slavery’? Apparently irrelevent.

So that’s the kind of person you’re engaging with here. Don’t expect a lot of informed debate, he’s just trolling you for the sake of it.

    But YMMV.

  24. You haven’t told us who this mysterious T.P. “leader” was who was running around with a sign with the N-word. Maybe because it didn’t happen? You haven’t given a single example of how the NAACP protects any black person’s rights today, indeed, any example of how they do anything but behave as a race-hustling organization worried about their declining relevance. And, you absurdly praise the ACLU, an organization that has done its best to undermine the Constitution since its founding, particularly everybody’s 1st amendment right to religious liberty. Don’t embarrass yourself with accusations against the integrity of others when you’re obviously just a leftist troll on a conservative blog.

And I and every real conservative here know we don’t expect any better from trolls who scurry over here like you and Ian,Tony, and lie about what others said. I never said slavery wasn’t a part of the War, as you know. I guess my mistake was even assuming you were one of the rare honest progressives and engaging you in the first place. We now know you’re not; you apparently just troll for Buchanan or Tom Woods posts, or any others that you can spew your bile on. Which you get away with, since conservative blogs tolerate leftist liars in a way leftist blogs will never tolerate conservatives. So, carry on, i guess.

  25. And now we see the difference between real racism and the pretend kind you two babble about. Williams was dismissed from the national TP leadership for a tasteless parody, inappropriate perhaps but certainly not genuinely harmful to anybody, black or white. Meanwhile thanks to Breitbart and biggoverment.com (‘Doing the job your leftist press corp. should be doing…Your welcome!’ That should be their trademark), we now know an EMPLOYED AGRICULTURE DEPT. RACIST, some hack named Shirley Sherrod, has been refusing the full services of the dept. to a farmer specifically because he was white. She referred him to a white lawyer, so he “could talk to one of his own”. Everybody in the audience at the NAACP banquet seems to love this charming story. That’s your typical modern-day racist NAACP that you two chuckleheads and virtually no one else is defending. She’s no outlier, she’s a typical NAACPer as the organization exists today (and all other leftist race-hustling organizations allied with the ‘rats). If they were just this stupid organization and not employed in federal depts. of the government, then I wouldn’t care much. Watch everybody but Fox News ignore this much more important and more serious story than anything Mark Williams has ever done.

  26. The guys name is Mark Williams who they’ve just expelled. Turn Hannity off AC.
Why are you reading The American Conservative? Theres very little conservative about running around with those signs or pretending you havn’t seen them.

There appears to be a lotta weirdos hanging around the Tea Party movement. It’d time to clean house as the expresssion goes or be prepared to be judged by their behaviour.

  27. The race baiting here is coming not from the NAACP, but Pat Buchanan himself. Nowhere in Ben Jealous’ quote does he accuse as Mr Buchanan puts it “another organization of being motivated by race”

As evidenced from some highly publicized protests, clearly there are some racists and bigots amongst Tea Party participants. This does not infer that the organization itself is motivate by race. All the NAACP is asking, is for the movement’s leaders to emphatically denounce them, and then we can move on from this nonsense. It would be good for the cause.

  28. 1) Being of Irish anestry, no, I’m NOT particularly fond of the English. Then again, I don’t live in England.

    2) Canada, in point of fact, DOESN’T have “plenty” of race and immigration problems. We have a scattered few, but nowhere near your level. See, up here, we don’t go looking for people to have problems with!

  29. “Mark Williams”, yeah. What did I say? YOU started this thread, Ian, by claiming he was running around with a sign with the N-word. No, he wasn’t. He was dismissed from the national Tea Party leadership (whatever that means; there are multiple TP organizations) for a tasteless parody, a lot less offensive than what Sherrod said, who was a paid Ag. Dept. federal employee, with the full force of the federal govt. behind her far more blatant and undisputed racism. Any parody by a guy with no power is a far cry from “running around with an n-word sign”. So, again, are you just a fantasist or a liar or what?

  30. They are the NAACP (National Assoc. for Advancement of Colored People)!!!

Whether you think they’re great or they suck, OBVIOUSLY they are motivated by race, SEN! Do you need Buchanan (or anyone else) to point that out to you?

  31. Sherrod didn’t say ANYTHING OFFENSIVE. She gives talks. She was talking to a group of people WHO MIGHT KNOW OTHERS who were racist.

She said, “24 years ago, when I was NOT working for the government, but a private community-assistance organization, I was asked for help from a WHITE PERSON that I initially didn’t like. I found myself making 2 mistakes:

I wasn’t doing my best, and I had to ask myself if that was for racial reasons, and,

I tried to get a WHITE LAWYER to help him, assuming the lawyer would do a better job.

But I realized my mistake, and I IMPROVED THE QUALITY of my work, while learning that I had looked at race issues inappropriately. That was 24 years ago.”

The audience laughed sympathetically, at the proper places in the story, as she made fun of what APPEARED to be her own racist tendencies 24 years ago.

    This lady DESERVES OUR SUPPORT.

This was a LIB ATTACK on Andrew Breitbart, trying to set him up, and Shirley Sherrod got hurt in the process; a CIVILIAN CASUALTY of the battle between Brietbart and the NAACP.

COME ON OBAMA, DO THE RIGHT THING HERE, REINSTATE HER.

  32. Let’s assign blame where blame is due.

We live in a world where LIBs are trying to trump up charges against Tea Partiers, Palin, GOPers, and Conservatives in general, and they are WILLING TO LIE to do so.

An out of context tape was sent to Brietbart, whether by a dishonest LIB or CON, is yet to be determined. (I personally believe it was an attempt to “set Breitbart and Beck up”)

The tape was forwarded to Beck, who by dumb luck and timing, didn’t use the information on that day. Now he claims that his better instincts wold have caused him to “vet” the tapes, before running with it.

But the other talking heads who come on later in the evening on FOX NEWS, DID run with the story. The next day, realizing their mistake, they either refused to fully admit the facts of the case, and/or distorted it, to punish Ms Sherrod for canceling her promises to appear on FOX NEWS. With the duplicituous suggestion that Ms Sherrod could “come on FOX NEWS and set the record straight”.

However, even BEFORE Fox News even hinted at the story, the same people who had set up Breitbart, had warned the NAACP, and they panic-reacted informing the WHITE HOUSE, who tried to jump out in front of what they assumed at the time was a damaging story to the President and the NAACP. Then they covered for the President, by having Tom Vilsack fall on his sword and take credit for Sherrod’s firing.

Vilsack now needs to come up with a cover story that clears the President and the NAACP, while attackinbg the original targets, Brietbart and Fox News:

  33. O.K., so, maybe Sherrod’s a saint of a woman for all I know. Before this whole distraction, the STORY WAS (if anyone cares to remember) how the NAACP, like other leftist Democratic party arm organizations was running around accusing the Tea Party en masse of being racist. With the MSM everywhere outside of Fox News and talk radio leading the way. Like accusing TP people of “running around with N-word signs”, right Ian? So, when you stir up a dishonest s***storm like this around race, which is obviously untrue, then similar tactics will be turned around on you. (Although unlike the leftist MSM who invented the original imaginary epithets by TPartiers outside the Capitol building the day they signed health care, I think Breitbart is telling the truth that he didn’t have the whole tape of Sherrod’s speech) Perhaps a good lesson on how reckless accusations of racism, which are the Left’s forte now are a little dangerous? Don’t expect them to change.

And, boy, that old saw that the MSM indulge in, how, “Oh, it’s part of the nature of the beast; we can never correct false stories once they’ve been started”, which is always their stock excuse after a conservative public personality has been shredded through the Lies machine is really just B.S. itself, isn’t it? Have you ever seen the entire press apparatus bend over backwards to defend the terribly and untruthfully maligned reputation of some conservative before the way they’re doing so now for Sherrod? Remember Ray ‘Where do I go to get my reputation back’ Donovan of the Reagan Labor dept.? No, of course you don’t. They “correct” the stories they want to correct; the conservatives who get caught in their crossfire are just necessary losses as far as they’re concerned, and more than half the time they aren’t honest mistakes in the first place, either.

  34. So I’ll happily admit error and apologize to Sherrod (whom i don’t know obviously) for describing it here as her “undisputed racism”. Unlike Ian, who hasn’t even explained where the story of Williams supposedly “running around with N-word signs” is supposed to have come from. His own imagination?

  35. O yes Mark Williams was Ac. you can google him if you want. It’s even been on TV man. The guys history bud and thankfully too’. So go on… say sorry to the nice lady.

He (Williams) is a bigot flat out and really if you support him in any way which you so plainly do then you’re reading the wrong website … try the World daily Net or just sit in your mums basement reading your Glenn Beck library fantasizing over Fox news girlies. Bigots AC are extreme not conservative .. Extreme.

They are something else and should go and get their own damn party. Some seem to have hitched a ride on the Tea Party and they destroy the credibility of people invovled–well they sure don’t help. Go on AC REFUDIATE them.

NB Sarah I’m sure you can be nice in person but…real conservatives over the age of 5 can read.

  36. Turns out Sherrod is what blacks call “racial”, as opposed to being a racist.

That is, many of her friends are white. But it’s okay for her to accuse any white she disagrees with of being a racist.

But, for making the same mistake that Obama and the USDA made, she says only Breitbart and Fox news has racist motivations.

“To have people say that I was such a racist was unbelievable,” – Shirley Sherrod

“They (Fox News) are after a bigger thing, they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person.” – Shirley Sherrod

  37. You can google all you want, ian, there is NO picture I can find of Williams “running around with any N-word sign”. So, you’re just a little leftist liar, apparently, thanks for clearing that up…

Actually I think I take any apology back. This woman is obviously a friggin nut; perhaps the O administration’s instincts were right? Now, she’s babbling on TV that Breitbart wants blacks in slavery. Hmm. O.K. Her 15 minutes are winding down, and all she’s accomplishing is hurting her sympathy which the MSM has devoted a full 2-3 days of coverage in generating, and strengthening the original hit on her. Good job, Shirley! Jeezus, what a moron.

  38. Thanks for taking the time off Fox to post AC.

Don’t take too much time off you’ll miss your next anti dusky hued ppl fix. Be afraid of the foreigner Ac be afraid of the black/latino/gay person AC. Kill them all first AC. Get a mind of your own man. i’d recommend watching some George carlin on U tube for something totally different and maybe reading some Frum Forum, George Will even Andrew Sullivan …get a variety of opinion. Stop being so angry grrr that isn’t an argument.
I’m hardly a liberal AC I just think.

  39. Het Ac heres a picture of one of your Tea party buds with the dread Ni##ar sign. Don’t google toohard.http://www.theroot.com/buzz/pesky-teabagger-sign

  40. LOL, You have got to be kidding, man. YOU started this by claiming WILLIAMS was running around with N-word signs. A lie.

Now you’re using Dale Robertson from 5-6 months ago as your example? The phony baloney who bought up domain names specifically to be a pain in the ass, who the MSM kept interviewing and dishonestly describing as the Houston TP founder? The one the real Houston TP said was a bozo who they had nothing to do with? Read their press release at houstontps.org/?p=318. Hell, even the marxist Mother Jones for Godsakes, admitted the MSM was a biased joke for using this loser as representative of anything. Read that at motherjones.com/mojo/2010/01/wash-post-quotes-bogus-tea-party-leader.

Lastly, you absurdly (and like all leftist trolls, what a coincidence!) deny you are a liberal, but reveal you are exactly that by telling Amconmag readers to check out David Frum and Andrew Sullivan for…for what? Sensible conservatism? Ha ha! Yeah, O.K., I’ll go to Andrew’s silly blog if I want to read about how fascist I am, I and the rest of the 1.2 billion Catholics on planet Earth because we’re not yet on board with seeing how cool buggery is. Or if I want the latest on how Trig Palin wasn’t really Sarah’s baby, and how the MSM colluded in the whole conspiracy. That was a big “scoop”. Other than that wise commentating, I’m a little fuzzy on just what other pearls of wisdom relevant to conservatives Sullivan has ever offered. And David Frum? Do you even read this website? Not Frum’s, THIS one. Since it’s one of the relatively few mainstream magazine non-neocon conservative websites out there, one would think you would be aware that most people who appreciate Amconmag have very little use for Frum, one of the original career-climbing, leftist-appeasing, Reagan generation neocon liars. Apparently, you are blissfully ignorant of this. Honestly, you couldn’t have telegraphed your ID as a lefty troll any more successfully if you were wearing neon. But, no, you are “hardly a liberal”, you insist. Sure.

    Just stop digging, already. Seriously.

  41. O It’s the wrong Tea party racist. Imagine that. Kinda underlines my point even more. Nice rant about buggery but I can assure you the Catholic Church is long aquainted with the practise. Why no women priests? Is that really such a big deal?

You see AC if you play identity politics with groups of people lets say homosexual/Bi sexual and make them feel unwelcome the free market solution is for them to find somebody else to vote for. And their families and their friends.

Whats worse …. a heterosexual rapist or gay accountant? One can get married, get all the civil rights of a marriage union, employment rights and one, particularly in some states is on shaky ground. If we don’t like big government… what’s it doing in my bedroom? ( consenting adults of course). We like to speak about freedom but freedom means nothing if it is only freedom to fit in a narrow parameter of thought and behaviour. My freedom means nothing AC if you can’t have yours.I’ve recommended sites to challenge your thinking AC not to narrow it That’s Rush’s job. Watch some George Carlin maybe you’ll hate some of it but his explanation of what we think of as rights is excellent.

Go in peace Brother. It’s a conservative issue to be concerned over freedom bud.

  42. No, he wasn’t even a real Tpartier at all is the point. And Williams never had any signs. But keep tryin’ You’re bound to tell the truth once by accident just according to law of averages…

  43. you’re a sad angry man AC … your rants are pointless.

  44. No, I’m a happy and content man actually. Maybe because I don’t feel a need to make things up in order to justify a religious belief in progressive leftism?
