Some of the local Republicans are pushing for a state-run casino to pay for the thing. Not the first time they've suggested replacing taxation with gambling as a government revenue source, nor will it be the last.

Fellow Upper Midwestern here, but solidly on the Minnesota side of the border. There is no way in h-e-double-toothpicks that the public will come up with $750 million for a football stadium. The Twins got a new stadium, but nada from the state. $350 mil came from Hennepin County, but only by completely bypassing the voters and state representatives from the county. As the current plan is to redo the Metrodome, which is in Hennepin County, the same scheme will not work. (Anoka County tried to finance it, but its bid failed)

Pawlenty will not even mention the word "taxes" (or even "fee") the rest of the way. Only a veto over-ride could get any new money. Ain't gonna happen.
