Palin is, in a lot of ways, more of the same.

I agree with her pro-life stance, I think she's sincere about shrinking the size of government, and obviously she's not going to come out for gun control, but there are a lot of questions about her that remain unanswered.

Would she continue our unsustainable police-the-world foreign policy? Is she going to continue to be anti-small business (by being pro-big business) like the Bush Administration was?

I have every reason to think so. The people at the National Review and the rest of the conservative establishment love her, and those are the positions they hold.

I'm glad that Hoffman and Palin are keeping the party from moving further left, but that's only one of the party's problems.

S.L. Toddard's comments are instructive. If one wishes to see an EXACT mirror of Obama's enemy list, one need only look back through the last year's archives, here at TAC's blog. The similarity between opinions of many TAC bloggers and the current government is astounding.

Watch for pseudo-criticisms of Obama's regime, as they dismantle our enconomy.

And the attacks on things-conservative will become less subtle, as the US public becomes aware of the intentions of these people.

What I wouldn't give for thoughtful, honest answers from either main party on just one of those questions. Every answer is a packaged and managed non-answer these days.

To hold up Sarah Palin as a hope for the future of conservatism - or as a conservative in any meaningful sense whatsoever - is to immediately and irrevocably discredit oneself as a serious person.
