What Do You Think?
Who’s up for another two minutes, or perhaps a two weeks, hate? The Onion has a not very nice American Voices item about the ridiculously overblown Palin/Letterman flap. This could go on all summer.

I hope I can say this without raving or sounding bitter, but Letterman’s joke really was garbage. Sarah Palin may be keenly aware of her image and how to manipulate it, but she didn’t exactly invent that practice, and she and her family are being savaged in an unprecedented way, I think.
I am all for mean-spirited jokes about public figures, so long as they’re actually about the public figures. Sarah Palin put herself out there, so she’s fair game. Her daughter, who is a child, didn’t. She’s dealing with adolescence, which is presumably hard enough for the daughter of a public figure (and new aunt) without David “I was funny in the 90′s” Letterman making jokes about her sex life.
Thank God for the Onion!
