the worries about rupert murdoch taking over the WSJ were very well founded as it turns out. he is using the editorial page to put all his disagraced jokesters back out there. even this guy who should be mowing richard clarks lawn in DC or something

Feith's suggestions are almost phantasmagorically craptasitic. We've have millions of people out of work, a dysfunctional educational system and a crumbling infrastrure and Feith wants to send "volunteers" to build roads, schools and hospitals in wrecked pseudo-nations. All under the benevolent watch of the military. "Nation build or else...!"

It's more military exceptionalism run amok. I saw a program on the military Channel. It was a documentary of a Marine squadron as they patrolled. In one scene the squad raided a house and found a computer whose contents they examined. It turned out that the house was occupied by an innocent family. The squadron commanded threw a few bucks at the family to fix a hole blown in the roof.

Members of the squad commented after the raid that they had found pornography on the computer hard drive. And they laughed derisively about how many computers they examined contained pornography.

What the neo's can't comprehend is that tossing beneficent money at an Iraqi is totally negated by a simple invasion of his privacy and or an affront to his dignity. I'm not knocking the Marines. That's their job. But if the guy who owned the computer didn't hate the Americans before they busted down his door, I'm pretty sure he hated them after they left.

Multiply that little indignity by the thousands experienced everyday by Iraqis living under American military dominance and ask yourself how good is America really at nation building?
