Gingrich 2012?
Newt Gingrich is putting out feelers for a run at the presidency in 2012. It’s probably PR smoke and mirrors, but we should have realized something was up after Gingrich’s megalomaniacal appearance at CPAC last week. The former House Speaker, as Kelley noted nicely below, strutted into the Regency ballroom to the thumping chords of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.” Ever the stuntman, he came in from the back, thus guaranteeing an affectionate public mobbing. It felt cheap; but crowd loved it.
Gingrich’s speech was depressing, too. All his red-meat criticism of the stimulus and his oft-repeated proposal to abolish capital-gains tax was fair game — albeit safely couched in Romney-like language of big-gov/big-biz.
On foreign policy, however, Gingrich still seemed utterly unable to draw a line between fantasy and fact. He urged his listeners and President Obama to read two ridiculous-sounding novels — by Alex Berenson and by William R. Forstchen — about existential security threats to the USA. These, he said in effect, were valuable manuals for guiding America’s international relations.
Surely Sarah Palin would be a better candidate for 2012? At least we know she doesn’t read.

Newt. What are we going to do with you? Building your own personal security paradigm on those two books is like building your faith on the Left Behind series instead of scripture. Too bad Dr Paul is “unelectable”.
I’ve got it!!! (snaps thumb and middle finger)
Let’s ignore that Newt is a historian, and has produced some excellent game-simulation level “novels” about World War II. Rather, let us infer that the word “novel” will cast subtle aspersions on Newt’s competence.
Let’s call Limbaugh “fat”, and start a rumor that his sarcasm, aimed at the LEFT, is instead a sign of instability and megalomania.
Let’s call the Governor of Alaska, “too pretty” and “dumb”. If she spends 1/10th of what Pelosi spends a year transporting friends and family, let’s imply that she’s dishonest and wasteful of taxpayer’s money.
Who needs morality and truthfulness, tearing down Obama’s enemies, when we are the NABOBS OF NUANCE?

Why be subtle? The guy confused pulp fiction for serious policy texts. He’s a putz.
Newt is as solid as it is going to get in the Republican party…If you take issue with any sort of megalomaniac attitude then you have to discredit virtually every single person who wants the seek the office of President…only severely confident people are willing to seek such an office…I would rather see Newt in charge than McCain, Palin, Obama, or any other big leaguer out there…and once more Newt’s ideas resonate and he is electable….Dr. Paul is right wing fringe (so what if most of it is true he doesn’t speak universal language) Palin would be the same mistake that McCain was…good name recognition without a chance in hell of actually getting elected.
Newt has a superior understanding of the history of this country…which would help us to for once stop making the same mistake over…and his charisma and showmanship are critical to a succesful election…Stop hating on the best chance the GOP has for 2012 and fall in….Or you can vote the Palin./ Jindal ticket and watch another four years from the sideline.

Re: N.Y. 23
The endorsement by Boehner, Newt, and, Steele,

You still don’t get it!
We the Tea Party and other people wanting to be govern by Conservative Principles did our job.
And the Moderate Elite screwed up another election!!!
You and McCain, Graham, Snowe, Collins, and other RINO’s go do like Specter.
The message is clear outside Washington.
Conservatism wins
Conservatism stands the test of time.
The Republican leadership continues to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. You scratch my back and I will scratch yours
